missed this - gratz. you are right its as dull as a blade that has been smacked against a brick wall several times every day for 3 years. I did my practitioner 6 years ago and have never bothered renewing.

Please note that unless you are a member of The VIKE (Vikings Society) you will need to speak with Rick or Bled before going to a VIKE event. You would be guests of a different society and we would need to clear your going with the hosting group prior to attendance.
Odds are it will be fine but some events may require a Vike member to sponsor you

For anyone who has not been to Murton Park..
Firstly its awesome.
Secondly this is the "Viking Village" that is there - excuse shaky video it was a last minute thought as I was walking out. We should be going back later on in the year (in summer...)

OK i have decided on a craft. its appropraue for both my monk and non monk and imo shoudl be fairly easy to do...
except i dont really know where to start. I am gusssing some sort of box that can be heated up for the wax and some string...
any help gratefully recieved

The forum uses a number of groups to assist with security and what people can and cannot do:
The current list of Groups (in ascending order of access)
- Guest - no login required, has very restricted access to what they can and cannot do/see
- Member - the default group - can use most of the forum but not the parts intended for WSF Members
- WSF Associate - WSF associate members and people we konw well - can see most of the fourm with some limitations on WSF members only stuff
- WSF Member - Members of WSF - has pretty much full access to all areas of the forum
- WSF High Council - Members of WSF High Council - has pretty much full access to all areas of the forum
- Moderators - people who have some limited admin rights in addition to their normal group membership
- Administrators - people with administrative rights on the forum (technical stuff) in addition to their normal group rights

One of the big, happening, things during our period was the uptake and rise to dominance of Christianity in the UK.
However there were some big goings on in the world of the church that meant that all was not peace and love - far from it in fact...

I agree there will be a lot of people not fighting with swords for a bit unless your rich.
Maybe take a tape measure and measure them all....

Just us old farts on 2 handers... (and Jake) so no shield for us. 🙂i think teh challange woith spears is that they want to move to 1h and make 2h more of an elite weapon (which is in line with what the vike have).
imo a good move thenty wise but it menas anyyone new in past few months who has started on a 2h is in a weird position

Some of my initial thoughts are:
Swords. - a lot of people are going to have to buy news ones if these regs are approved
Noobs - change from 2h spear to 1h spear and shield as forst weapon with 2h spears becoming a more elite/warrior weapon

These regs govern most aspects of weaponry and armour etc and how they can be used in Regia. If you are interested in combat then i strongly suggest you read them.

tbh it might be better to say we can use certain colours more easily than otehr parts of the country
for example lilacy purples. on wirral we had common dog whelk and some lichen that gave a nice lillac colour. most other places that would have been really rare. its still rich sataus wise but not as hard to do as if we were in say the birmingahm area

I have had to enable the store feature so that the support one works properly.
This area is very much still a work in progress but the idea is you will be able to buy stuff using it and make payments to WSF etc. I am hoping to get some discounts from traders prepared to sell stuff using it - worth a try.
So if you want to buy a hoodie for 100 grand I am sure Andy will be ecstatic but don’t .. as it WILL try to take the payment from you

So welcome to WSFs very own forum.
Tthere are many features here including a discussion area, gallery, file downloads and clubs... I will set up a zoom call to run through the basic features etc once we have enough people signed up.
However the burning question which I just know will keep you awake at night is "wtf are clubs?"
Well think of them as mini forums that could span multiple topic areas (for example the 2ecclesiastical one" or stuff set up which is temporary - show/event organising etc. if any of our guests want one for their own group then its suitable for that too. If there are any clubs you can think of go ahead and submit one. if its not a dumb idea i will set it up and away you go. you get to moderate what’s in it and who and all sorts of shizzle.
that’s all for now but have fun, play about a bit and if things go to shit click om support and I will have a good laugh at what you have done before (hopefully) fixing it,Rick
